The absence of a carbon market in Africa, notably Nigeria, hampers sustainable development, clean energy investment, and job creation, resulting in revenue losses. With over 60% of its population affected by energy poverty, Nigeria faces limitations in electricity access, hindering socio-economic development and impeding engagement in carbon trade and international climate finance.
